Although the early years of in the American Muscle series from Ertl lacked what can be called high or great detail, they did offer some great subject matter. Many of these early models set the stage for companies such as Hwy 61 (Trademark Models) Lane, GMP and Greenlight. Many of the Corvette models that were produced in the “American Muscle Series” were released in the early 90’s or the very early years of the new Millennium with a wide variety of production numbers. Data records show over 150 Corvette models were produced from the years 1991 – 2003 from Ertl. Could this be the reason that newer companies such as Greenlight or for that fact Hwy 61 failed to produce the Corvette series in a higher detail offering?
